Wouldn’t it be lovely to visit the Grand Canyon again to sit and paint, paint, paint? Some day I will.
Until then, I’ll practice making the distance via color.
If you know from which viewpoint I took this photo, please write me. I did not keep notes when we traveled there in 2005.

I sketched this painting months ago after a trip to Taft, Oregon. I have several in this series and will paint many more over the years.
People watching provides endless entertainment at the beach. In general, everyone and their dogs are happily running/walking/catching.

$90 SALE © Pam Van Londen 2007 Lucy’s Garden 3 acrylic on canvas on 12 x 12 x 1 canvas

SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2007. Acrylic on canvasboard.
Each day I work on campus, I walk past Lucy’s Garden. She’s a big ole dog in a picket-fenced succulent garden with palm trees, cacti, and other interesting plants of the south.
Something is always blooming in the tiny area with varying shades of green, yellow, purple, and red calling to me as I pass. A few times I’ve remembered to take photos so I can paint it later.
This is my first of hopefully many from this enchanting garden.

SOLD © Pam Van Londen 2007 Christmas Cactus 1 acrylic on canvasboard on 8 x 8 x .5 canvas
This holiday cactus looked great in the store and for a few weeks in December. I was able to paint its portrait before I almost killed it. It’s doing well now but has no blossoms.
